A new day...again

OMG...I totally forgot about putting pics up. I'll get to it before the weekend. Not that I have some insane fan base out there dying to see my pics...hell, no one even knows I'm out here. But anyway...on to more important life alterering blogging.

I broke up with my bf last night. It was very difficult, but very necessary. I'm sure it'll just get harder...but today, I am ok.

Looka here looka here!

Well, as my first entry...I guess I should just say...Whhhaaaaazzzz up. There probably aren't too many people out there...so that is more for me than anyone else.

I started this mainly to chronicle this very large, life changing event that I have begun. I promise...I will try my best to post pictures and keep things as updated as possible. Who knows...someone may be interested one day. Maybe I'll find that blogging is my destiny.

At any rate...I am a fat girl working to be thin. I've been working at it for over 20 years, but the mission has yet to be accomplished. I was thin once for about 2-3 years, but I had Cancer...so it came with the disease, but I was the happiest cancer patient on the planet...cuz I was thin.

I ended up losing my leg/half my hip (hemipelvectomy) because of the cancer, and I eventually gained all the weight back. I'm perfectly fine with losing the leg, but I've been a mess ever since I gained the weight back.

It was back in the day when Phen Phen was on the market, and I was trying desparately to get my hands on some, but I couldn't find a doctor who would approve it. I would explain to them that I would have a much higher BMI if I had 2 legs, but they just didn't get it. I would also explain that I'd been big all my life, and I was afraid that I was gaining all my weight back...still, they didn't care.

Finally, I had a client who'd told me about a doctor who would prescribe it for anyone who asked, and I scheduled an appointment right away. The day before my scheduled appointment, they took the drug off the market, I was so bummed.

To answer your question...Yes, I was more than willing to die in the name of weight loss...I was so young back then.

On November 5, 2008 my stats were as follows:
Surgery of choice: Lap Band Surgery
Surgeon: Dr. Solomon of Associated South Bay Surgeons
age: 40 year old female
Weight: 235 lbs
BMI: 40
comorbidities: HBP, Sleep Apnea

I was given a laundry list of things that would need to be done, but I don't know how long before I will be able to actually have the surgery. I am going to join the Y, and swim/water aroebics 3x/week. He also told me I can never smoke again, and even though it has been a while since I've lasted smoked, the first thing I did when I left his office, was go out and buy a pack of cigarettes! It was like...I had to do it one more time.

Amongst many other things, I will need to:

Psyc testing

meet with nutrionist

have blood panel done (of course now I'm waiting for as long possible before I have this done with hope that any traces of my defiant smoke fest is gone)

attend at least 2 support group meetings

Mamm (which I just so happen to have done the day before I met the surgeon)
BTW, what is the purpose of having a mamm prior to surgery?

weigh in every 2 weeks at the Drs. office

lose 15-20 lbs prior to surgery

liver/gallbladder ultrasound

sleep study (which was done back in June)

Meet with an oncologist to give them the ok since I had cancer 13 years ago (another stupid something)

EKG

There's lots more, but that's all I can think of at this moment. Another thing I found odd was that my surgeon said I will most likely have to have my gallbladder removed 6 weeks prior to surgery. I've read where most doctors will just remove it at the same time as placing the band, but whats even weirder to me is that I had gallstone issues, once 20 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. I never had any other issues. Dr. Solomon says that once you've had gallbladder issues in your life, you will most likely have them after weight loss surgery.

I really do love the fact that he's so through (sp?)...but damn!

This is getting way out of control...the length of my initial blog, you may not ever want to come back. Hell...I may never come back.

Last bit of information...I went back for my first weigh in on Nov 19, 2008. I lost 5 lbs, and have gone down to a BMI of 39 (I must have been teeter tootering in the first place). Do you wanna know the first thing I thought about? "OMG if I lose weight, they won't do the surgery". Yes, I'm thinking like that thin cancer patient...reality is...I can afford to lose even more than that.
